Hey, I'm Christa
What does that mean? It means that I have strong feelings about squirrels, Husker football, and the Oxford comma. It means that I have a passion for knowing things and will dig when I don't have the information I am looking for. But, most of all, it means that I am an editor in the making who could probably use more sleep.

MORE TO KNOW ABOUT ME
If you're bothering to read this, I appreciate that you would like to get to know me better. I am a junior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln who works for the school paper and hopes to know a thing or two about the journalism world. I have learned most of my journalistic knowledge through school experiences, including reporting for the Daily Nebraskan and serving as my high school’s first and only Editor in Chief of the News Journalism Department.
I loved the latter, stresses and all. It showed me what it means to work with people and how to manage conflicts, allowed me to learn how to prioritize story ideas and taught me how to stay in touch with people I rarely saw. I believe this experience will be something I am able to look back on forever. Working with 52 people and my advisor taught me communication skills each and every day.
However, I am more than a journalist. I also love working with leadership groups on campus and being a resident assistant in the dorm. I have loved getting to know my girls on my floor as an RA in a mostly freshman dorm because I feel that I can truly understand what they are going through. I enjoy hearing their stories and understanding their backgrounds.
I have also held jobs outside of college. I enjoyed my time working for Nebraska's University Communications Department as an editing intern because the experience taught me what it meant to edit copy and how to maintain an eye looking for the best story.
While it is not heavily journalistic, I have loved my job at a small business in my hometown. I am the junior assistant manager at Absolutely Her in Papillion. This has allowed me to work under stress and converse with ladies of all shapes and sizes.
I also worked at Papio Bay over summer as a park attendant. While this was not a glamorous job, I was able to learn the value of putting in long hours and loyalty to the company. The pool had been under a lot of public scrutiny, but I understood how and when to tell customers bad news.
All of these experiences have shaped me into who I am today and I look forward to proving that these are my strengths.
Thanks again,
Christa
